Welcome to British Mist Breeding & Racing...

Like so many other fulfilling endeavors, British Mist Breeding & Racing started as something of a dream. We loved Thoroughbred racing for all of its unique qualities: the glory and romance of fast horses, the color and action of the racetrack, and an unrivaled potential for success on many levels if one is bold and lucky enough. We knew we wanted to be involved.

Since we began our racing involvement back in 1983, we have heard the roar of fans in several race tracks in Mexico, then in the United States; which led us to start participating in the breeding part of the game; in California, U.S.A, back in the early 90's under our same barn name (CUADRA CRUZ DIABLO), we made our debut in the early 80's at The Hipodromo de Las Americas, in Mexico City. During our short but exciting era breeding in California, we where honored to learn from highly respected and knowledgeable individuals, such as: Rick Taylor, Manager at that time of Worldwide known, Golden Eagle Farm, breeders of such high caliber horses as: Best Pal, General Meeting, Event of the Year, General Challenge, etc; Hall of Fame Trainer, Lazaro Sosa Barrera,  trainer  of  the   last  horse  ever  to  win  the   Triple   Crown, Affirmed; Mary Knight, Top trainer in Southern California, and Top Thoroughbred Sales Consignor; and Jack Werk, recognized as who many people in racing regard as the most influential pedigree consultant in North America.

As I mentioned above, in our short but exciting involvement in the California Breeding Industry, we bred 34 horses, 22 raced, 14 winners, and 1 Stake Winner, with earnings of $499,055 US dlls., not only that, our homebred MARIANKA, SW of $35,065, is now a multiple Graded Stake Producer, dam of: Stakes Winner, VICTORY THRILL , 4 wins at 3, $63,208, Graded Stakes Winner HIGH BUTTON SHOES 4 wins, 2 to 4, $278,221, and Multiple Grade Stakes Winner MATT'S BROKEN VOW , 4 wins at 3, 2008, $370,884.

High maintenance costs and overwhelming though competition were to though for us to overcome at that stage. But certainly, the one thing we did gain, was the acquisition of the invaluable knowledge that later converted in to the foundation, that now, under British Mist Breeding & Racing we are gladly willing to share with you.

"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.”
